Based in Tokyo and Hangzhou, 1DesignLab (1DL) is a design consulting agency that juxtaposes design and scientific research.

1DL has in-depth collaboration with Zhejiang University and its Design and Research Institute, committed to applying cutting-edge science and technology to drive space design, guiding technology with storytelling, and transforming spaces into commercial value. 1DL strives to provide our clients, including governments and corporates customers with a full range of professional services and excellent customer experience.

1DL’s partners graduated from prestigious design institutes including Harvard MIT, and have extensive industry experience. 1DL also has a consulting team with professional backgrounds in community building, education, public relations, business, artificial intelligence, etc., to escort the enforceability of interdisciplinary design solutions.

Ichikura Ryuhei

Ichi graduated with a Master of Science in Architecture Studies (SMArchS) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology after working for Herzog & de Meuron, Kengo Kuma, and Takenaka Corporation. Ichi has won a number of international awards including the first prize of Architectural Institute of Japan Design Competition, Silver Prize of Design Educate Awards, and Architecture Master Prize.

Weishun Xu

Weishun has won a number of international awards including the first prize of the 30th Japan Architectural Environment Design Competition prior to joining 1DL. He holds a master degree from Harvard University School of Design and graduated with High Honor the University of Virginia. Weishun is currently also a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Zhejiang University.

Jiaqi Wang

Jiaqi graduated from Harvard University School of Design with a master’s degree in architecture and urban design. She has won the first prize of the German LODE-PORT 2012 international competition, the ULI Gerald D. Hines 2015 competition in the United States, and the Excellent Urban-rural Planning Award in Zhejiang Province. Jiaqi is currently also a lecturer in the Department of Architecture of Zhejiang University and her research work is widely published internationally. 

Xuyou (Chelle) Yang

Xuyou graduated with a master’s degree in architecture from Melbourne School of Design, the University of Melbourne, and won the Architect Michael Kaufman Scholarship Fund and Young CAADRIA Award during her study. She previously worked for the University of Melbourne, Power to Make/LLDS and RoboticPlus.
